Opening Night - A Smashing Success

The Ain't We Got Fun Facebook Group Hits 300 On Opening Night!

With impeccable timing, our Facebook Group welcomed its 300th member just hours before our opening night curtain. I am a proud director and an in awe artist at how in the flow and feel good every step of this project has been...and because of that, I will be at peace no matter what happens during the run. The buzz is big, everyone is talking about it and the show will either be embraced or it won't. What matters the most to me is that we have had so so so much fun and been so good to each other and are fully proud of the product regardless of what outside influences might be. I am sure tonight will be stunning and the audience supportive and full of laughter --- and that this next six weeks will be unforgettable.

Ain't We Got Fun Hits The Front Page!

You can imagine how thrilled we were today to find ourselves happily posing on the front page of The MJ Times today with TWO articles filling the front page space! To the left here you see a jpeg of the front page, but I will make sure to scan the article and add it here for all to read in the next couple of days. Gotta concentrate on opening the show - TOMORROW NIGHT!! If that was the whip cream, then finding out that The Leader Post covered us as well in Regina was definitely the cherry. Also, we have hilarious new videos uploaded from our first crazy day at Sidewalk Days today in the +33 heat AND a new Ain't We Got Fun Asks addition to our video series...both of which you can go and see on our Facebook Group page.

We keep saying as a cast that we couldn't possibly be doing more to promote and market this show if we tried. With all this effort, if our tickets don't sell then we throw our hands up in defeat. That being said, tickets ARE selling, with two sold out shows and great numbers for opening weekend. I won't be shocked if this show exceeds expectations -- as long as audiences like us tomorrow night;-)

The Creative Unfolding of Ain't We Got Fun

One of the perks of a rehearsal period is that it's a highly creative time for the actors and the directors. Now, this is never more true than in a comedy when you are literally getting paid to figure out what will make people laugh the hardest. A delightful byproduct of this task is that the actual team themselves end up spending much of their time laughing...and laughing...and laughing. Here is a glimpse into a moment of our show - Ain't We Got Fun - and it's hilarious unfoldment...

Ain't We Got Fun in Rehearsals

Rehearsals for Ain't We Got Fun started this past Monday and already we have roughed in the entire show! The picture to the left is the cast (with Caitlin stepping in to fill my spot) practicing what will be the final pose. It's a crazy ride we are on...putting up a show with 32 musical numbers AND working our butts off to market and sell;-) This, people, is indie musical theatre at it's best.
